Having A Dyslexia Child

You know that feeling right? Lost, alone, confused, and you need help. Me too. We all have something that holds us back, yet we find a way to get over that hurdle. Dyslexia is just one of those hurdles that you can overcome with help. Children often feel pressure in their classroom because they are not learning as fast as their peers. That is a lot of stress for a child to handle. If the problem isn't solved at an early age it could lead to the child being afraid to go to school at all. When that happens they may carry that fear throughout the years and end up being a school drop out statistic.
Luckily there is always help for these students. This website has the knowledge that will help you as a parent, help your child. Feeling alone and desperate is not the feeling we want to give our child. We want to make sure they are getting the nurturing that they need so they can grow up and be happy, healthy, carefree, and successful. Help for children with dyslexia.

Learning to Read Through Sesame Street

How many of you remember learning words from the good old show Sesame Street? I am proud to say that was my favorite as a child. There are so many options and ways to teach your child a fun way to read. You have TV shows, movies, games, books, arts and crafts, even puzzles.

TV should not be the main focus of your child's learning of course, but it can help. After they watch their favorite show, take them aside and find out how much of it they were able to absorb by playing with them. Ask them to spell out a word that was on the show, or have them draw it. Interacting with your kids will help them learn and absorb information a lot easier.
This will help them develop their memory skills as they grow and give them the confidence they will need in school and around their peers.

Fun With Reading

One of the main goals to teaching your child to read, is to make a game out of it so your child will have fun while they are learning. Make your games bright, and full of animation so it will make it easy to keep their attention. Make sure to ask them questions about the book however, do not get discouraged if they can't remember everything you just read to them. That's the reason to have your kids act out part of the book and make drawings about the story.

Travel Games

When you are in the car, do you play games? You can play road trip games with your kids or, even quick trip road games with them. Have them pick a word, then they have to find the letters of the word in order. In the beginning, have them choose a smaller word like C A T. I always had fun playing this game with my kids.  Or, you can just pick out a word that you KNOW will be on a road sign and have them watch for it and point it out as you drive by.
 Word Search Puzzles
When you are done playing that game, you can have them play some word finding puzzles. Both of these games kept my kids busy for a few hours on the trip. At least until they got hungry. Finding fun and interesting reading games for your kids can sometimes be challenging so I hope this helps you.

Does Your Child Know How To Read

Does your child already know how to read? Consider yourself lucky if you said yes to that. If you said no, then I hope you have been following these post's everyday. They have a lot of information that could help everyone. There are so many different ways to teach a child, and not all of them can or will, learn the same way.
If teaching them the ABC's one way isn't working, then try another way. With all of the resources we have today from books, internet, teachers, tutors, video's, there is little to no reason why a child can not learn to read.
As parents we only want what is best for our children. Does that sound like a broken record? Maybe, but it's true right? Once we grow up and have kids, our life as we knew it, now becomes all about them. All of our selfish behaviors are now selfless due to our children. We want everything the best from them but first, it starts with learning how to read. Here is another website I found to help you and your children.
Succeed To Read

Poster Fun Craft Time

Making really fun and artistic posters with your young ones will help them with their reading and spelling. Plus, it's a fun family moment you can cherish.
Just get some materials together and make a bunch of fun animals together then, after you have a lot of laughter and maybe some snacks in between, you and your kids can make labels for the names of each animal. Have your children tell you what each animal is, and have them point to the word that matches before you place the label onto that animal.
This game sounds so fun to me right now, I am going to play it with my granddaughter. Teach your children the essential "art" to reading. Yes, pun intended. My daughter-in-law loves my puns.

Teaching Your Kids To Read With Songs

Have you ever thought about songs that could teach your children to read. Most children love to sing so why not combine the two.
This video is really cute. Your children will love it and have a lot of fun while learning how to read the words to this song.

Highlights Magazine for Children

I am so not afraid to admit that this was my favorite childrens magazine growing up. Okay, maybe even now. This is the most creative magazine for children anyone could have come up with. They have puzzles, hidden pictures, stories, craft ideas, recipes, you name it and they have it. This could just be my opinion but I think it's the Best Magazine For Your Child EVER.
I know I have just as much fun reading this as my kids do.

Book Clubs For Kids

Book Clubs are a fun way to get a lot of kids involved with reading. Have a group of friends come over just for reading time. There are a lot of books that both boys and girls are reading these days. Harry Potter is still a popular one, Diary of a Wimpy Kid, The War Horse, and numerous other books that the kids all love. They can have fun reading and acting out the book. Much better then having them sit in front of the TV with a bored look on their face.

Book Bonding Time

Sometimes life doesn't give us enough time in a day to be with our kids. A really good way spend time with them and help them learn is to have them read you their favorite book while you are making dinner, doing laundry, dishes, etc. This will make them feel important and it will make you a part of their learning success. Just finding time can be a challenge, hopefully these will be helpful ideas for you and your child.

Reading Comprehension Strategies

It's not enough that your child knows how to read and identify words, but how well are they able to comprehend what they are reading? It's good for them to read their favorite book over and over again that way they are taking in more each time they hear the story. It's like when we read a book or watch a movie again, we notice things we didn't see before. The same with our children, the more they read, the more they will comprehend what is going on in the story and what a word means.
